RDRAM: A Brief Look at Its Role in Memory Evolution

RDRAM, or Rambus Dynamic Random-Access Memory, emerged as a high-bandwidth memory technology designed to deliver faster data transfer speeds compared to earlier RAM standards. It was once positioned as a premium solution for performance-focused systems.

The architecture of RDRAM allowed it to operate at higher clock rates, making it attractive for applications that demanded quick access to large amounts of data. However, this performance came with higher costs and increased heat output.
